Futuristic Security Council (Crisis)
Hello everyone, Welcome to HillMUN 2015! My name is Maria and I am a senior at Hillcrest High School, as well as a third year Model UN student. This year I have the pleasure of being the director for the security council crisis committee as well as the tech and crisis supervisor! After being in Model UN since my sophomore year, I believe this class has changed my life for the better in many aspects, including my ability to not faint while giving speeches to a large crowd. Aside from all the United Nations craze, I love science, history and soccer (FC Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona are my favorite teams), I hope to study international relations and political sciences in college, and I absolutely love binge watching Netflix (Psych, Doctor Who, Sherlock, History documentaries and everything in between). I hope you have nearly as much fun in this conference and the Crisis committee as we had cooking it up for you!
Fun Fact: I am a walking Harry Potter encyclopedia, which includes solving the mystery of how post owls work! (not kidding, ask away!)
Hi, my name is Teyanah Cleve, and I'm a second year Model UN student! I joined Model UN my junior year because I've always had an interest in politics. Politics and Art are the only things I'm good at. I suck at everything else. My dream school is QCC and I took classes over there during the summer. I also love music and playing the violin. I'm looking forward to chairing this committee and hope you all have a great time!
Fun Fact: Those who bring fried chicken and watermelon win best delegate.
Fun Fact 2: I'm just joking. I'm pescatarian. But still bring the watermelon.
Oil, Water and Space
As humanity advances, so does its endless consumption of resources, and so does its incredible ability to damage the planet they call home. The leading experts in charge of monitoring the planet’s resources conclude that we stand at the edge of an energy and resource crisis, in 2015.
Set in the year 2063, your mission will include managing the little resources your nations have left, your priorities when it comes to war will be tested, and your power of negotiation with “New Frontier”, the rebirth of the Mars One project. You will not only have to deal with your fellow delegates on Earth, attempting to find a solution to all issues that may arise, you will have to find a negotiating middle ground with the “Martian” colonists, who do not feel have an obligation to earth, and will require diplomatic solutions like any other nations to send much needed help to Earth.
